Since I was very young I have loved the process of creating and making. I studied Art and Design as part of my degree where I concentrated mainly on sculpture. Now with painting I feel I am sculpting with my brush, aiming to bring life to the image. I am inspired at the prospect of capturing a mood or atmosphere in a place I have visited. I want to capture the extraordinary in something ordinary. Light particularly inspires me and the way it affects everything around it.
In the same way that I am inspired by a particular view I am also inspired by words. I love the beauty of calligraphy and the way it can express feeling behind the words. It is a different way of sculpting and I find it equally exciting and challenging.
As part of my expression as an artist, I love to share what I am learning with others, through teaching groups and individuals.
